Top Ten Revisited

Today's top ten (I'm in a 'what could i watch over and over' mood)

In no particular order:
Jaws (near and dear to my heart in so many ways)
Die Hard (because it's a repeater)
Pulp Fiction (because it is indisputably one of the best ever)
Pride and Prejudice (Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth; again a repeater)
Back to the Future (I don't mind  the sequels as much as some folks I know, but they don't come close to the glory of the original; speaking of sequels, well you'll see...)
Star Wars (original trilogy; it counts as one as far as I am concerned)
The Burbs (one of the funniest movies; still makes me laugh)
Apollo 13 (I love NASA!!!!!)
Amelie (romantic, but not in a sappy, annoying way; great filmmaking style)
The Royal Tennenbaums (see above)

Barely missing the cut for today were:
The Godfather I and II (here's a teaser for the article I am writing about sequels...)
Jurassic Park (Samuel L. Jackson,  "Hold on to your butts." Fabulous.)
The Goonies (no one loves this movie more than my sister; I'll have her write a guest post)
Fight  Club (I'd switch this with "Pride and Prejudice" if this were a top ten just plain amazing, when I saw it I didn't know what to do with myself, list)
The Matrix (sequels article to come...)
The Swiss Family Robinson (never gets old)
The Lord of the Rings (all)

I'm starting to ramble. Get me your top tens.

  6. I guess I will have to see "The Road" now, though I may take a break from post-apocalyptic for a while after having just seen "The Book of Eli."

  8. I love the range of your list. And I could never make fun of Harry Potter, though none of the movies has been quite what I hoped. I am sensing a slightly irreverent sense of humor, in which case you might like Super Troopers, if you haven't seen it. It is pretty raunchy, but good laughs throughout.

  9. Thanks . . . I always think my range isn't large enough - e.g. I've never seen Pulp Fiction even though we own it. Jon has asked me several time to watch it. Perhaps I will finally give in this weekend and do just that.

I never know what people will think with HP. I have to admit I was so judgemental about the series before I was finally convinced to start reading the books last summer. Now of course my favorite books of all time are those of the HP saga. I agree that none of the movies were what I hoped either, especially when watching them immediately after finishing the books. I believe my affection for the HBP, however, has more to do with my infatuation with Rupert Grint and my obsession with R/Hr relationship. If you take those two factors out of the equation, the movies drops in my rank by about 20 or so.

I just looked up Super Troopers on imdb. I'll have to watch it. Thanks for the tip.
